A senior citizen in King City found themselves in a difficult predicament when their water heater unexpectedly stopped working. For this homeowner, having access to hot water was more than simply an inconvenience; it was a daily requirement owing to a medical condition they had. Because they had this urgent need, they called The Plumbers Inc.

Upon receiving the call, we promptly dispatched one of our skilled plumbers to the customer’s home on the same day. Our team understood the critical nature of the situation and was determined to find a solution as quickly as possible. The plumber discovered that the home had a unique and outdated 40-gallon water heater tank, which was not readily available in the Portland area.

Our plumber did some research and found an innovative solution. He identified a standard 50-gallon water heater that could fit in the same space as the old 40-gallon unit, and the existing plumbing would accommodate the upgrade. In fact, because 50-gallon water heaters are more widely produced today, this option was more cost-effective than attempting to replace the old unit with another 40-gallon tank. We clearly explained the situation to the homeowner, who agreed that upgrading to the 50-gallon tank was the best course of action.

Our devoted staff worked hard to remove the old water heater and install the new one on the same day, ensuring that all King City building codes were followed. Thanks to their knowledge and efficiency, the homeowner’s hot water was restored quickly, relieving them of their stress and concern.

Our customer expressed their gratitude for the timely resolution of their dilemma. As a firm, we take great pride in being able to give the attention and assistance our customers require, especially when they need it the most. This homeowner’s relief and appreciation reinforced our commitment to providing excellent service and being there for our community when they need us.

Here are some common signs that your water heater may need to be replaced. Water heaters are generally expected to last around 10 years, but that may change if you have water that is heavy in minerals, or you consistently use a lot of hot water for example.

Signs Your Water Heater May Need Replacing

  • Limited hot water
  • Rust or corrosion on pipe joints
  • Unexpected water near the heater

It is even possible to have two water heaters and not know that one of them has failed until the second water heater also fails.

It is very important for our service technicians to be open and transparent with you about what needs to be done, and to work with you to find the best solution for you.

Our being able to get permits quickly is also important to our customers. We also make sure our work and water heater meet your local code requirements, so you can rest assured knowing that both the jobs were done correctly, and that there will be no city code violations related to our work in your home.

A family of four in Lake Oswego was caught off guard when their two 75-gallon gas water heaters quit operating. The family contacted The Plumbers Inc. because they were concerned about getting their hot water back quickly.

The water heaters were installed when the house was built in the late 1990s and had reached the end of their useful life. The family was unsure whether both water heaters had broken at the same time or if one had failed before the other. Regardless, the family realized they had to act quickly because they all depended on their daily showers.

The family contacted The Plumbers Inc., who sent a licensed plumber to investigate the cause. Following the inspection by The Plumbers Inc. it was found that the old water heaters could be removed without causing any damage to the home, and the new water heaters could be installed without the need for any plumbing adjustments. This relieved the owners because it meant the water heaters could be readily removed and replaced.

However, the plumbers discovered that there was no suitable drainage system in place to handle possible water heater leaks. They brought this to the owner’s attention and offered to resolve this building code issue as part of the installation.

The Plumbers Inc. secured the permit from the city of Lake Oswego to install the new water heaters. The plumbers began their work, they carefully removed the old, malfunctioning water heaters taking care not to damage the home on the way out, before installing the new, modern gas water heaters in their place. As promised, they also fixed the drainage problem, ensuring that if there were leaks in the future they would be handled properly.

That night, each member of the family was able to take their hot shower. Being grateful and relieved they no longer needed to worry about broken water heaters. The family was extremely impressed with the professionalism and efficiency displayed by our plumbers throughout the process.
