Plumbers Inc. is a recognized plumbing service provider for thousands of Portland metro area residents. We hire plumbers to be plumbers, not salespeople. As a result, we have a large number of skilled plumbers who have joined us from other local plumbing companies. If we recommend more work, it is because it is truly necessary.
We are a full-service plumbing company that handles anything from dripping faucets to leaky toilets. Installation of gas lines, septic lines, and water lines, as well as maintenance and repair of all types of piping in your home.
The homeowner called The Plumbers Inc. about their damaged copper plumbing. While the technician was on-site, the customer asked if they could also install some new bathroom sink faucets they had recently purchased. The plumber said yes, always willing to do additional work while on site to meet the customer’s needs, our plumber noticed that the emergency shut-off valves for the bathroom sinks were old and fragile, dating back to the original construction of the home some 40 years ago.
Our plumber told the homeowner that changing the shut-off valves and supply lines for the new fixtures would eliminate the potential of future leaks and extend the life of their plumbing system. The customer agreed and chose to have all of the shut-off valves replaced along with the installation of the new faucets.
We were pleased to be able to save the customer time and money by repairing the frozen water break, changing the shut-off valves, and installing the new faucets all in the same visit. The homeowner was pleased with the plumber’s efficiency and willingness to go above and above to ensure that their plumbing system did not leak.
As the plumber packed their tools and prepared to depart, the customer felt relieved and grateful. They knew their plumbing problems had been fixed by a knowledgeable and trustworthy professional, giving them peace of mind and assurance that their property had been in capable hands.
Sometimes you will not know you have a plumbing problem until you get your water bill. This is common with toilets that do not shut off, or that leaky faucet that is just “barely dripping”. Other times if you don’t have anything leaking in your home, it may be the water line to your home.
The family contacted The Plumbers Inc., and we responded quickly by dispatching a specialist to check out the situation the next day. Our plumber carefully excavated some of the old CPVC water line, only to discover many leaks along it, which often happens over the course of months before there are enough to increase the home’s water bill. The technician confirmed the necessity for a complete replacement.
Our estimator arrived on the next day to discuss what was needed to replace the water line, and the cost with the homeowners to obtain their approval. To minimize costs and expedite the process, the team proposed drilling a new PEXA water line underneath the family’s yard and into the home’s crawl space rather than digging up their yard.
On the third day, the drilling company expertly drilled the water line to the house and our plumber connected the new water line, successfully restoring the family’s water supply. The installation of a state-of-the-art PEX main water service line, warranted for 50 years, provided the homeowners with peace of mind, knowing that they likely would not face this issue during their ownership of the home again.
The family felt an overwhelming sense of relief as the project concluded, grateful for the plumbing company’s expertise, efficiency, and dedication to solving their problem. With their water service restored and the knowledge that their new water line would serve them well for years to come, the family could finally put this stressful experience behind them and enjoy having water in their home again.
Low water pressure in your water lines has many causes. It can be as simple as cleaning the screen in your faucet or shower. It can be replacing the shut off valve or supply line to your sink’s faucet. It can be replacing your faucet because it is corroding inside and blocking the water flow, or it could be that the pipes in your home have mineral build up and corrosion inside of them.
Having galvanized pipe in a home is rare, while not outlawed, it has a lifespan of about 50 years. However, over time, it can become pitted, corroded, and develop split seams. Rust forms inside the pipes, causing flow restriction and allowing sediment and debris to clog fixtures. The plumber observed debris and sediment in the faucet filters, and the pipes showed signs of external corrosion. Some faucets had more water flow than others, indicating an uneven water distribution throughout the home.
The homeowner had grown accustomed to the low water pressure, not realizing the gradual change. However, when our plumber brought potential issues to their attention, such as water discoloration, unequal water distribution, corrosion, lead contamination, rust spots, and health concerns, they understood the importance of upgrading their water pipes.
The homeowner requested that we send our estimator to inspect the property and provide a bid for a PEX repipe of the home’s interior hot and cold water lines. PEX piping is expected to last as long as copper piping but costs roughly half as much.
After approving the quote, the homeowner scheduled the work to begin the same week. Our team removed all the old water piping and shutoff valves, replacing them with new PEX piping and shutoff valves throughout the home.
With the updated plumbing system, the homeowner now has peace of mind knowing that their home is properly supplied with safe water for many years to come. They appreciated our plumber’s expertise in identifying the issue and providing a cost-effective solution.
